Praise God!!

Yesterday, God was good to completely interrupt our plans to have His will be done. In a strange turn of events, our English classes were cancelled yesterday due to some minor protest at the university. With that door shut, God faithfully opened an opportunity for Jassey and Alexandra (Lexi) to share the Gospel with Solange, a student from the university that got connected with the group last year. Lexi and Solange hit it off immediately due to their similar sense of humor.

JC, along with a couple of other guys, met with another contact from last week, Jorge. Jorge is a new believer who is eager to read the word and be a light to those around him and be a “real Christian.”

Today, English classes resumed! We were able to meet up with both Solange and Jorge again and were blessed by their desire to hang out with us.

Instead of Bible study we had a church service after the English classes ended. Many of the Dominican’s go to church, but view church as simply a weekly activity. The impromptu service was a great paradigm change for many of them and gave us the opportunity to explain that church is the group of believers that you live your life with, rather than a place you attend once a week. Over 50 Dominican’s were there along with most of the 37 American’s in our group. The pastor from San Pedro, Sabino, gave the message after worship about John 15. Many of the Dominican’s that we have spent the most time with this week were able to meet with Sabino after the service and plan to continue to attend his twice weekly Bible study on campus once we leave. That has been one of our biggest prayers, and keys to a lasting impact from our trip.

Today was also a very special day as we got to celebrate JC’s birthday and thank God for his life. Tonight our minds where blown as we feasted on french-fry pizza. Yes, that’s right. Jealous? We dined with a great group of Dominican’s, each of us getting to know them more personally. It made for an enjoyable evening.

God continues to show Himself to be in complete control and we continue to be in a place complete surrender.
