Out of Team USA

Out of Team USA - aka Ultra Spiritual Ambassadors

Caleb, Matt and Nicole got safely to Bella Epoca with only a 20 minute delay to our flight. After a crazy ride from the airport to the hostel (many first timers to the DR driving experience), we reached the hostel. Those staying in the apartments had more adventures getting to the apartment. In the morning, we had a pretty American breakfast and spent time with the Lord and organizing the day. In the afternoon, everyone worked on calling those signed up for English classes. Some were really excited but some couldn't understand us (prayers for our Spanish!).

Our big adventure was Mr. Matthew Hall getting lost in the morning. He had the opportunity to talk with someone while on a run, but in the process suddenly realized he was LOST. Luckily, he found a hotel that let him use a computer and he tweeted to the group as we didn't have our local cell phones yet. Direct tweet here "Hey I am LOst!! What is the address of the hostile. Please forgive me. The address where I am is ..." Lesson for the day: tell your group before you take off!! And don't get lost.

Around 3:30pm, Ellie and Abe arrived, but we are still missing Mr. Scott Nilius! After, we headed to the University of Santo Domingo to get a feeling for where things were, where we will be able to hold English classes, etc. and had the opportunity to talk to some students. We had some great conversations about the Gospel and what they believe. We were blown away at how willing some were to talk to us. We have high hopes that we will see them again at the English classes or Bible studies. Matt's big red beard - "barba rojo" - was key in attracting the locals.

Dinner was delicious and fish was the dinner of choice.
